Where does the Hammered Mbira come from?
Originally designed by Don MacLane (Portland, OR), the Hammered Mbira is a tuned percussion musical instrument based on the combination of the layout of a hammered dulcimer and the metal rods of the African thumb piano (mbira). Don drew upon his many years of experience as an engineer and metal sculptor to design the Hammered Mbira, which is easier to travel with than a hammered dulcimer and does not require regular tuning.
Mary Lynn Michal is the exclusive US Distributor for Mbira Heaven Hammered Mbiras.
